Visiting Artist Peter Whelton

Peter Whelton, a famous local artist visited our school last week and shared his enthusiasm for painting with the pupils in Class 3 and Class 4. The children then produced some watercolour paintings inspired by Peter’s work. This was a superb opportunity for children to improve their skills with the guidance of a professional. The final pieces of work will soon be put on display for parents to see.

Class 3 Visit to Bradgate Park

Class 3 enjoyed an educational visit to Bradgate Park this week to study rivers. They measured the speed of the river at different points and took part in some stream dipping to see the variety of life in the Bradgate stream.

Class 1 Visit to the Sikh Temple

Class 1 had a lovely trip to the Sikh Temple in Leicester. They were able to see inside the temple and enjoyed trying some of the delicious food that was offered. Thanks go to Mr Ghuman for arranging such a great opportunity for the pupils.

Shoe Box Appeal

Derek from Blythswood collected our shoeboxes during our Friday assembly. The pupils assembled in the playground to wave Derek on his way. Thank you to all the parents who supported the children in making the shoebox gifts.

Christian Values

We will be thinking about our school’s Christian Value ‘Friendship’ over the coming weeks. Every week someone from each class will selected for a special ‘Friendship Award’.

Leysland Dance Festival

Kilby St Mary’s ‘Jungle Book’ dance was one of the top performances at this year’s dance festival. Pupils thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this collaborative event with other schools in our area. Well done to everyone who took part.

Class 4 Remembrance Assembly

Last week Class 4 pupils led a collective worship focusing on Remembrance day. They read some of their own writing and a number of pupils performed ‘The Last Post’ on their trumpets. Thanks go to all the pupils who took part.

Extra-curricular activities

We try to arrange a number of different extra-curricular activities throughout the school year.
