Harvest Service

A record number of family and friends joined in our Harvest Service this year. It was a very special event with many new families taking part. Thank you all for your generous contributions. Your harvest donations were distributed to Age Concern and a local food bank.

Shoe Box Appeal

Derek from Blythswood talked to the pupils in assembly today about the Shoebox appeal. Children will be bringing home details about this project and I hope you will support them in preparing a shoe box of Christmas gifts to donate to Romania.

Collaborative Equality Group

We have embarked upon a collaborative ‘Equality’ project with Arnesby school pupils. Pupils from both schools will meet regularly to explore and discuss issues of equality. To start their project the group considered what is ‘Britishness’ ?

We look forward to working with Arnesby pupils again over the coming weeks.

Family Assembly

Our first two Family assemblies have been very well attended by family and friends. These assemblies take place on the first Friday of every month and our next one will be Class 4’s Remembrance Assembly on Friday 6th November. Our new Reception pupils will be joining us and refreshments will be served afterwards. We hope you can attend.

McMillan Coffee Morning

The McMillan coffee morning raised an impressive £138. Many thanks for your donations.

Big Moves

Pupils in our new reception year are taking part in the Big Moves Project which focuses upon developing pupils’ coordination and flexibility. This is delivered as an extra PE session by a qualified instructor.

Extra-curricular activities

We try to arrange a number of different extra-curricular activities throughout the school year. We are currently offering after school Mandarin lessons for KS2 pupils; lunchtime netball and football club; lunchtime choir and gardening club. A basketball coach will be delivering basketball coaching after the autumn half term.

Lion’s Charity Swim

Pupils from Kilby School took part in the Lion’s Charity swim on Saturday. They have successfully raised money for school and also for the Lion’s charities. Thank you for the support of parents who enabled their children to take part.

Parents Evenings

We will soon be sending out letters about our parents’ evenings on 27th and 29th October. You will be required to indicate a preferred time slot and then we will confirm the time of your appointment.

Please note that these appointments are organised in 10 minute slots. If you wish to discuss an issue that will take longer than 10 minutes, please make a separate appointment. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Trim Trail Repairs

Repairs and wood protection treatment was carried out on the trim trail this week to ensure it is safe for our pupils to enjoy.

School Development Plan (SDP)

This year the focus of our SDP is Maths; Computing; Cross-Curricular Writing; Artsmark and Moderation.
