Early Years Foundation Stage at Kilby St. Mary’s
At Kilby St. Mary's school our early years setting comprises of Seedlings, our 3+ provision, and Oak, our reception class. We have a strong team that work together to provide a nurturing, safe and stimulating learning environment for all children. As both classes share planning, resources and activities together, we are able to provide a smooth transition from nursery into full time school life. We passionately believe that these early years in a child’s life are crucial in creating happy, motivated, curious learners and we strive to make these years fun, memorable and celebratory for both children and their parents.
Both classes follow the curriculum as outlined in the latest EYFS statutory framework - which includes 7 areas of learning and development that are equally important and inter-connected. We use these seven areas to shape the educational programmes we offer in our early years setting. We provide an exciting and varied curriculum, with lots of opportunities to learn through play, interaction and exploration. This ensures a secure foundation on which to build each child’s individual learning and development journey and allows each child to make the most of their abilities and talents as they move through the school into the National Curriculum subjects offered in Year 1 and beyond.
We have a wonderful, stimulating, well-resourced environment for the children to explore and learn in which reflect the 7 areas of learning. Our outside area has recently been completely renovated and offers the children extensive opportunities to learn safely through exploration, play and creativity. We love to get outside and learn more about the world around us.
At Kilby St. Mary’s, we pride ourselves on creating strong, caring and personal relationships with all our children and their families. We provide lots of opportunities throughout the year to invite parents in and share our learning together.
We feel privileged to be a part of these wonderful children's early learning journeys and love to celebrate their daily discoveries and achievements with them.
